Festival season is the most exciting time of year and Guilfest is finally upon us, so at long last, I can dress up as the muddy princess I always dreamt of being! Fashion embraces the season of music and free love with open arms, with throwback trends from the 1960’s like tie-dye print, bohemian style and scruffy rock’n’rolla commonplace…
And so this brings me to the VERY exciting topic of GUILFEST!! And over here at This Is Our Town Guildford, we are absolutely buzzing! Weather is set to be glorious, so maybe for once, I won’t have to base my outfits around my neon pink hunter wellies. It’s going to be Surrey galore, with pop up festival stands, delicious local food and drink, banging music and more! I can’t wait. Time to dress accordingly!
The Rocker
Sometimes I just love to ditch everything girly and feminine and go full-on hardcore rocker. Set your inner rock star free with ripped up skinny jeans (black preferably), stompy Dr Marten boots, a checkered shirt and of course, your favorite and much loved band tee. Tie your greasy locks back with a printed headband and head straight to the mosh pit! Someone point me in the direction of where The Who are playing, please!

Bohemia
Think floppy and flowy. Forget everything you know about tight and restricted clothing and fall back on lovely soft billowing fabrics, floral prints, swishy scarves and of course, big sun glasses. Enjoy the heat of Guilfest in the comfort of non-restrictive clothing and soft cottons- perfect! Get your bohemian look spot-on with long, flowing kimonos such as this corker from Hollister, swishy crop tops, wide-brimmed hats and cut off denim shorts (as pictured at top).

Woodstock Throwback
What would a festival be like without the help of a little tie-dye, a few flower garlands and a bit of ‘make love, not war’ attitude? Whether you fancy yourself a dab hand at the DIY or you’d much rather buy your twirly t-shirts from the High Street, get your dye on! And then go fourth and dance your merry heart out on the lovely fields of Stoke Park! For this look, think laid-back tie-dye with ripped up shorts, flower headbands and fringed leather bags. Kick back and enjoy the sunshine with a few drinks and act like it’s 1969!
