Drummond Food & Drink

The Drummond

The Drummond is ideally situated on the Woodbridge Road near the Guildford Cricket Club ground, making it one of the most accessible pubs in Guildford with easy links to the train station, one-way system and town centre. It is the perfect place to go for a swift one after work, or even on your lunch hour if you live in the town centre!

The Drummond is deceptively large with quite a lot of seating out the front, and a real hidden gem of a terrace out the back. It is always difficult to create any form of serenity in urban pubs as they do not have the luxury of trees, grass and often sunshine, but The Drummond does manage to create its own bit of peace and quiet. There are enough benches to get a gaggle of people outside for some atmosphere and the delicate, white fairy lights and wooden arbour give it a certain charm that many other pub ‘gardens’ do not achieve.

Inside there is a magnificent concoction of drinks, from an English potato vodka to over 20 speciality beers and ciders on tap, from black spiced-rum to Belgian fruit beer, from locally brewed real ales to a world of wines. On the menu are modern classics and seasonal dishes like Gloucester Old Spot sausages, beer mustard mash, onion rings & gravy, cider & tarragon battered cod with skin-on chips and wild salmon fish cakes, lemon creme fraiche, potato wedges, celeriac & apple slaw. There are delicious bar snacks that include warm Buffalo Mozzarella, sun blazed tomato, spinach & creme fraiche on focaccia, a meat board which includes Trealy Farm meats, cured beef, scotched quails eggs, olives, bread & oil and as ever, the traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings as well.

Not only that, but there is an extremely good set menu from Monday to Friday which is £8.50 for two courses or £11 for three and includes deep fried whitebait, chargrilled 8oz gammon, fries & two free range eggs and Salted caramel & chocolate tart with clotted cream, as well as many other options.

There is free wifi in the large inside area for those going for a business lunch, pub quiz nights for those going as a group and events dotted around the calendar for special occasions like Halloween and Christmas. As they say at the Drummond, “Get a glass of your favourite, grab a friend & take a seat! Make yourself comfortable. Consider the Drummond an extension of your front room.”
