Sunday 23 March sees the fourth Guildford Sport Relief Mile taking place at the University of Surrey. This fantastic community event is led by students of the University who have dedicated hundreds of hours over the past few months to planning, project managing and executing the whole Mile from start to finish.
Sport Relief is part of the Comic Relief charity and raises much needed funds for people both in the UK and abroad. The money donated goes to a wide range of vulnerable people from providing access to health and education, reducing violence and exploitation as well as helping to empower communities.
In the UK, the money you give helps provide shelter to young people living on the streets and protection to those living with domestic abuse. Across the world, your money helps get children into education and provides communities with fresh water and life-saving vaccines.
The students of the University of Surrey want to reach out to as many people as possible in the Guildford community and surrounding areas to ask for your help to run, walk, hop, or crawl the one, three or six miles on the day- however you want to take part!
The event itself will feature so much more than running; a real family fun-day atmosphere with music, stalls, entertainment, a mass warm-up, food and drink plus a special guest starting the race! So what are you waiting for? Grab your family, your friends, even your dog and register now!
Registration is super easy and can be done by heading to the website HERE, entering ‘Guildford’ into the search bar and selecting ‘The Guildford Mile’, before following the on-screen instructions. It’s then down to you to raise money, so start thinking of some creative ways to get your friends, families and work colleagues to sponsor you!
