Friday Night (07.11.14)
The Ghost Tour of Guildford, 8pm, Holy Trinity Church, Adults £5, Children £3. The Ghost Tour of Guildford has been amusing, informing and repulsing the public for over a decade. Surrey’s premier spooky attraction can boast it has never knowingly given anyone their money back! Discover a side of Guildford you never knew you wanted to know. Mad Dog Mcrea, 7.30pm, The Boileroom, £12. Mad Dog Mcrea raise hands, lift feet and start parties wherever they play with their spellbinding recipe of folk, pop, rock, jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake your ass’ music. From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies.
The Canterbury Tales, 7.30pm, St Mary’s Church, £12. A flagon-filled feast of fun, brimmed full with chivalric romance, beautiful maidens, swindling merchants, bawdy wives and flatulent monks. Fascinating Aida: Charm Offensive, 8pm, The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, tickets from £20.50. Following a sold-out 2013 tour, three Olivier Award nominations and over 10 million YouTube hits for Cheap Flights (their infamous anthem to budget air travel), Dillie Keane, Adele Anderson and Liza Pulman continue to celebrate 30 years of Fascinating Aïda with their terrific new show Charm Offensive.
Sikes & Nancy, 8pm, The Mill Studio, £13. Charles Dickens adapted Sikes and Nancy from the grislier material in Oliver Twist. It became the most notorious of his legendary Public Readings; a masterpiece of high Gothic melodrama. Presented by Jimmy Jewell for Ladida Productions in association with The Production Exchange.
Pocket Dream, 8pm, The Electric Theatre, £12.50. Propeller presents a sixty minute version of its internationally acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, especially devised for young audiences. Edward Hall’s all male Shakespeare company combines a rigorous approach to the text with a modern physical aesthetic to create productions full of clarity, poetry, speed, and imagination.
Emerging Music, 8pm, The Keystone, free entry. A night showcasing the best local talent in the area with two for £10 on Fish & Chips, sharing plates and large glasses of house wine- what more could you want on a Friday evening? A supportive platform helping musicians try new material and support the arts in Guildford at this pub fused with creativity!
Saturday (08.11.14)
Nutrition Workshop, 10.30am, Guildford Wellness Academy, no cost. Learn the different food groups and what each one does and how much you need (proteins, carbs, fats, fibres, etc) to achieve and maintain long-term health and shape, learn what calories are, what water does. Plus find out your metabolic age and how many calories your body is burning at rest.
Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive the Bus, 11am & 2pm, The Mill Studio, £9. Based on the award-winning book by Mo Willems, writer and animator for Sesame Street, this lively show is full of fun, feathers, laughter and excitement, featuring original music and lots of audience participation! Running time: approx 50 minutes, most suitable for ages 3-7 yrs.
Careers in the Arts Event, 2pm, G Live Glass , £2. Looking for a career in the arts but don’t know where to start? Head down to G Live for a careers event with a difference! Presented by G Live Creative Company in association with Surrey Arts, the afternoon will provide a relaxed atmosphere to meet industry professionals, discover the wide range of arts jobs available, and discuss the choices you can make to get them.

7 Deadly Sins, 8pm, The Electric Theatre, £14.50. The 7 Deadly Sins consist of wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and gluttony. This commercial dance show, accompanied by music from the biggest pop stars, looks at how relevant the seven sins are in today’s world. What makes a sin and why do the seven sins exist? Audiences will explore each sin in a different scenario and be left asking, “Am I a modern day sinner?”
Remembrance Sunday (09.11.14)
Remembrance Service, 10.50am, Holy Trinity Church, no cost. Holy Trinity Church will hold the Annual Service of Remembrance in honour of those who have fallen in the first and second world wars. After the service there will be a procession to the war memorial in the Castle Grounds after the service at around 11.50am. Military groups will join the Civic procession and a short wreath laying ceremony of remembrance poppies will then take place.
Remembrance Day, 11am, The Boileroom, free entry. As part of our event, three community choirs ranging from 4-60 years old have kindly offered to support Help for Heroes, the Poppy Appeal and the Royal British Legion by performing for Remembrance Day. The choirs are Kidschoir, AllStar Choir and Choir Belles whilst Boileroom hosts its Stitch’n’Bitch event, bake sale and a swap shop.
Charlotte Keefe Quartet, 3.30pm, The Keystone, free entry. Why not settle into some jazz this Sunday afternoon with this emerging young jazz trumpet player and her quartet playing some old favourites and some new compositions. The quartet will lull you whilst you enjoy Sunday dinner at one of Guildford’s favourite pubs.
Guildford Flames v Peterborough Phantoms, 6pm, Guildford Spectrum, Adults £10.50, KIDS GO FREE. Guildford take on Peterborough this Sunday in a crucial third v fourth place match up. The Phantoms sit on level points with the Flames at current, but have played two more games, so the home team will be looking to stretch their advantage.

Cara Dillon, 8pm, G Live, tickets from £19.50. If you don’t know the voice of Cara Dillon, you’re in for a treat. With music that transcends genres and crosses barriers, her cheerful personality and ethereal voice combine to present music that can only be described as enchanting.
