Here’s our weekend guide to events happening in the Guildford area over the next few days.
First up we have a weather warning. Temperatures are expected to dip to 3°C with wintery showers expected on Sunday and during the week with temperatures reaching highs of around 3 – 5 degrees.
The Classic Rock Show returns to G Live on Saturday with it’s “Top 20 Greatest Guitar Riffs of all Time” show following its sell-out tour last year. Featuring rock classics such as Whole Lotta Love, Back and Black and We Will Rock You, this promises to be a two and a half hour rock extravaganza.

On Sunday Guildford’s Ice Hockey team, The Guildford Flames, take on Milton Keynes Lightning in an English Premier Ice Hockey League Match at the Guildford Spectrum. The Flames are currently second in the league with Lightning second from bottom. Tickets cost from £5.50 for children, £10.50 for adults and are available in advance from www.guildfordflames.com. The action starts at 6pm.
At the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre tonight (Jan 16), back by popular demand is Motown’s Greatest Hits How Sweet It Is featuring The Formations. In its 13th successive year the show is a combination of first class music and slick choreography featuring songs from Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson Five plus many more.
The show starts at 8pm and tickets cost between £21.50 and £23.50
On Saturday at the Yvonne Arnaud is Odyssey of Love, the life story of composer Franz Liszt and the two greatest romances in his life, illuminated by some of his best know piano works.
The play features acclaimed actors Henry Goodman, Harriet Walter and Lucy Parham and there will be a Q&A session with the performers afterwards.
